The councils aims and objectives are To encourage all registered students of the University to become members of the ULSC. We aim To provide a platform from which members and all students at the university can broaden their knowledge of law. As well as to assist the law faculty in a more practical approach towards educating law. We aim to secure an environment in which members can network. And we strive maintain and enhance the standards of conduct and integrity of all members of the ULSC. The executive committee shall occupy the following offices of the ULSC:
We strive to be a forward-thinking and service-oriented council which significantly contributes to the development of passionate, competent and academically excellent students who are aware of the expectations partners, who give them opportunities, have. We aim to do this by providing our support through guidance and mentorship services and by maintaining a strong, reliable relationship with the students we serve. Furthermore, we aim to foster an environment of learning where students will be able to practically apply what they have learnt at the university.
The ULSC strongly believes that it is our responsibility to exercise innovative student leadership in order to promote academic excellence and transformation. We plan on doing this by creating a balance between theory based work and the practical aspect that many of the students do not have access to. We will also remain cognisant of the disadvantages that some of the students face when it comes to employment prospects after graduating from the university. One of our aims is to be a council representative of young, caring and forward thinking leaders who work towards remaining relevant to not only the students within the Faculty of Law, but to be inclusive of all other faculties.
We would like to transform the council by being inclusive and allowing students from other faculties to join the council and to learn about the law which is all around them. Our motto for the year is, “Inclusivity, the balance of women empowerment in a patriarchal society” which means that we will focus on women empowerment and inclusivity. In order to achieve our aims and objectives, we will humble request prospective partners to aid in our endeavour by availing themselves to be mentors and speakers at our events. We further request prospective partners to provide the Council with sponsorships for the events that we hold for the student. We have most certainly not forgotten our partners who have continuously supported the efforts of the Council to serve the students. We thank you and we are eager to continue working with you.
